Tivon Rice

[:Tw]提文 瑞斯是一名活耀于美国西雅图与荷兰海牙的新媒体艺术家及教育者,主要创作介于艺术、科技及视觉研究。他的创作结合了各种不同的素材,有实体也有虚拟的,他试图创造一种在不同语言、声音、图像及空间中的冲突,而这样的数位创作方式如即时影像、虚拟实境、机械学习系统及摄影测量法(一种透过分析大量二维图像去构成三维模型的方式)常常是对立于其他如雕塑、装置、灯光及类比图像等艺术表现形式。当在利用这些数位工具去进一步了解这个围绕在我们周遭的世界同时,瑞斯试图透过检视环境的构成因子及多元媒体对于对其空间形塑的影响,进而以个人观点重新诠释历史空间与社区的样貌。他目前已经透过这样的方式在台北、首尔、海牙及西雅图进行大尺度都市及建筑发展的各种研究计画,透过研究保存的观点来了解一个城市是如何看待自己本身。瑞斯于华盛顿大学取得数位艺术及实验媒体的博士,他目前是其Affiliate Artists机构的艺术家会员. 他曾于2011-12在富布赖特研究担任研究员, 并曾获得inaugural 4Culture Tech Specific 研究投资,他也是其中之一最早与Google AMI – 艺术家及机械学习研究部门合作的艺术家。[:][:en]Tivon Rice is an artist and educator working at the intersections of visual studies, art, and technology. Based in Seattle (US) and Den Haag (NL), his current work critically explores representation and communication in the context of digital technologies. These projects incorporate a variety of materials – both real and virtual – and build tension between the different ways we encounter space, images, sound, and language. These forms include sculpture, installation, light, and analog images, often organized in opposition with digital media such as real-time video, virtual reality, machine learning systems, and photogrammetry. While using digital tools to better understand the world around us, Rice’s work examines the ways physical environments and mass media create images, and in turn build histories around sites and communities. With this in mind, hehas developed large-scale projects through collaborative research in Taipei, Seoul, The Hague, and Seattle that focus on urban development, architecture, and preservation as key factors in determining how a city sees itself. Rice holds a PhD in Digital Art + Experimental Media from the University of Washington, where he is currently an Affiliate Artist. He was a 2011-2012 Fulbright Researcher in South Korea, arecipient of the inaugural 4Culture Tech Specific Grant, and one of the first artists to collaborate with Google AMI – The Artists and Machine Intelligence research group. Satoru Sugihara

[:Tw]杉原聡是ATLV数位设计事务所的总监与创始人,ATLV创立于2012年。在事务所成立之前,他曾在Morphosis建筑师事物所工作长达五年,期间参与大规模建设项目,包括竞图与研究项目。他还曾在DR_D和Greg Lynn FORM的事务所担任建筑设计师,并在东京的媒体艺术和互动设计中心担任研究学者。目前他在SCI-Arc (美国南加州建筑学院)教导电脑数位设计。他另外也在加州大学洛杉矶分校、巴黎拉维列特建筑学院、东京艺术大学、AA Bilbao访问学校及英属哥伦比亚大学教导电脑数位设计,杉原悟于2001年取得东京工业大学计算机科学硕士,并在2006年取得加州大学洛杉矶分校的建筑硕士。他在2014年在ACADIA得到最佳论文奖。也在2015年于巴黎的AA[N + 1]画廊举办个展“Agent-Based Computational Design”。他还开发了iGeo软体,藉由开放分享它发展出复杂几何原型,性能优化与几何合理化的形式,对计算数位设计工业与教育多所贡献。近期作品Gem of Lives分别在2016年8月于台北空间媒体艺术节及11月荷兰海牙现代身体艺术季中展出。[:][:en]Satoru Sugihara is a principal and founder at the computational design firm ATLV founded in 2012. Prior to starting his firm, he worked as a computational designer at Morphosis Architects for five years engaging in large scale construction projects,competition projects and research projects. He also worked at DR_D and Greg Lynn FORMas an architectural designer, and at International Media Research Foundation in Tokyoas a researcher in media art and interaction design. He is currently a faculty member at SCI-Arc teaching computational design seminars. He also taught computational design workshop atUniversity of California Los Angeles, AA Visiting School Bilbao, theUniversity of British Columbia, EcoleNationaleSuperieured’Architecture Paris-Malaquais, Woodbury University and Tokyo University of the Arts. Satoru Sugihara received the M.S. in computer science from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2001 and theM.Arch. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2006. He was the recipient of Best Paper Award in ACADIA conference 2014. He had his solo exhibition “Agent-Based Computational Design” at AA[n+1] gallery in Paris in 2015. He also publishes open source computational design software iGeo to contribute to the computational design industry and education by sharing what he developed for his computational practice of complex geometry modeling, performance optimization and geometry rationalization and dynamic agent simulation.[:]

[:Tw]施惟捷[:][:en]Shih Wei-Chieh[:]

[:Tw]施惟捷,1982年生,媒体艺术工作者、材料研究者,早期作品多使用电子零件DIY、声音为主要媒材,自2011起开始专注在智慧材料在织品上的应用如导电缝线和扫描矩阵在织物上的开发,他的穿戴式作品已持续在各国际电子织品和创客平台上受到关注和邀约如SXSW、E-textile Summer Camp、AdaFruit、CTM Festival。他亦大量运用雷射媒材在他的Audio Visual和氢版显影作品中,他的雷射作品早期主要研究雷射投影图形和数位声波取样的同步合成关系及高速度视觉侦速和噪音的对位关系。 2015年他开始另一件雷射研究「雷射染/Laser Dye」则是探索利用雷射感光放大传统摄影冲洗底片过程,与其在大型空间中的运用、将光的物理特性作更深部的解构运用在视觉艺术上和成衣印花的数位制造上。他亦是Taiwan E-textile Sumemer Camp 2017的主办人,该计画邀请电子织品艺术工作者和台湾泰雅族部落合作,探索新媒体如何在民族社群中做为社会工具之意义,以及数位手工艺品的开发。[:][:en]Shih Wei Chieh is a media artist, e-textile prototype designer and a self-taught material researcher, graduated from Media Communication Design of Taipei Shih Chien University in 2010, he now works as a full time artist and e-textile consultant bases in Taipei. His wearable works has been presented by many global events such as CTM Festival Berlin, SXSW, Adafruit, Youfab Tokyo, Modern Body Festival 2016, etc. He also use laser as material massively in his audiovisual and Cyanotype works, his early practice for laser audiovisual focus on the synthetic, synchronic relation between laser graphics and digital audio samples at sonic rate; another work of him “Laser Dye” explores the UV photosensitive processing and ancient photography rephrasing, digital fabrication for fashion clothing. He is also the founder of Taiwan E-textile Summer Camp 2017, this new project invites e-textile artists to collaborate with Taiwan Atayal weavers communities, to explore the position for smart materials in traditional textile culture and the innovation of digital craftsmanship.[:]

[:Tw]姚仲涵[:][:en]Yao Chun-Han[:]

[:Tw]姚仲涵生于台湾台北(1981-),为国立台北艺术大学科技艺术研究所硕士,作品形式包含声光装置、声响演出与音乐制作,透过光与声音之间的呼应和对比,触发观者对自身体感的想像。 2005年开始从事声响创作,获台北数位艺术节声音艺术首奖(2008),并多次受邀参与国际展览与演出。代表作品「流竄座標」曾受邀展出於日本「福冈亚洲艺术三年展」(2009),並開啟了國際展演的大門,該作品曾展出於韓國光州美術館、中國北京今日美術館、上海美術館、廣東美術館、莫斯科Красный Октябрь。「流竄座標」於2010年參加亞洲新媒體藝術重鎮-NTTICC展出,為少數參與的年輕台灣藝術家。 姚仲涵在推廣聲音藝術方面也扮演了重要的角色,於2007年開始了「失聲祭」,讓噪音與新媒體演出常態化,至2016年為止累積了超過100場的活動。2012年參與了「混種現場」聲響演出的活動,將噪音與音樂提出了新的提問。 姚仲涵是一位非常活躍的藝術家,每年平均有15場的展演露出。目前为台湾实践大学建筑设计学系助理教授。[:][:en]Yao Chung-Han hold an MFA in Technological Art from Taipei National University of the Arts. He employs the corresponding and contrasting relations of light and sound to trigger viewers’ imagination of physical senses. A pioneer in Taiwan’s sound and light art, Yao has won the First Prize in Sound Art in Digital Art Festival Taipei, and has participated in Fukuoka Asia Triennale, NTT ICC – Emergencies!014 (Tokyo), STEIM – Massive Light Boner (Amsterdam), City Sonic: International Sound Art(s) Festival (Belgium), Long Beach Museum of Art – Beyond the Frame: New Media Arts from Taiwan (LA), and The Way Things Go at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. He is an assistant professor at department of architecture of Shih Chien University.[:]

Per Skovgaard

[:Tw]沛 史考夫卡加 最早于1992年开始以绘画的方式进行创作。他对于绘画的天赋主要承继于父母的基因并加上他对事物拥有独特的诠释手法,他近期作品从单一媒材转向以复合媒材的方式创作,并于2007年开始在创作中加入光的元素。他试图去定义及记录光在既有空间的存在性。他并将此种形式的光雕塑创作摆设在森林等自然空间中,试图透过作品与自然空间进行一种微妙的互动对话,他透过将作品抽象化的形式去讨论作品的多重空间性及与物件间互相影响的紧密关系。 2009年他于丹麦哥本哈根气候变化大会中展出了 “Air As Art” – 这件透过与光和声音互动的变化创造出一种视觉轻盈的悬浮图像。他不断的在发展作品的同时也推进科技技术的使用,他在2010年让·努维尔的DR建筑中举办个展,展出大型的雷射光雕塑作品。他透研究处理视觉再现的方式将光影、黑暗、时间、颜色及抽象物质等转译为一种雕塑形态,他对物质转变形态有着极大的兴趣,他不断通过对物质形态的探索及转换过程,试图去找寻一个如在空间达到完全无光黑暗的状态中,眼睛于某一时刻能突然辨识出物件的超空间状态。[:][:en]Per Skovgaard started his career as a painter in 1992. He made his first work through merging the graphical DNA from his mother, farther and himself into one. He started to work with light in 2007. In 2009, he exhibited the sculpture with the title “Air As Art” – an object that reacted to sound through light in mid air as using zero gravity visually during the climate summit in Copenhagen. In 2010 he had a solo exhibition in DR Jean Nouvelle building. It is a large scale Sculpture. He has installed several sculptures in woods as objects integrating and interacting through the random abstract accurate. He seeks to define and documents light through and within the existing space. He combines the dimensions of parallel space and entanglements in an object through abstraction. With his study and abstract results of the combination through light, dark time colour and matter, and the visual relation that occurs in and through the sculpture, he distorts and transforms matter as dark light within a moment in time as hollow massive space.[:]
